Discovery Bridge

Just as the construction of the Meridian Bridge in 1924 changed the regions economy, the new Discovery Bridge's completion will have significant impact on the entire region.

The estimated project cost is currently $23,903,498. Work began on the structure in June of 2007 and is scheduled to be completed in 2008. The project includes 2.1 miles of improvements in addition to the construction of a new 4 lane bridge. The project will align US 81 south of the City of Yankton with the existing Broadway Avenue. Lighting, signals, and signage will all be components of the project. A second portion of the project will include the conversion of the existing Meridian Bridge to pedestrian use.
